In a statement dated October 10, 2023, Mr Boakye Agyarko, a former Minister of Energy and unsuccessful presidential candidate representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his concerns about the current state of the party.
He lamented that the NPP’s political landscape had evolved from a quiet and dignified pursuit of national development into a noisy and chaotic marketplace.
Mr Agyarko pointed out that today’s political environment appeared to prioritise noise, mischief, insincerity, and falsehoods over thoughtful discourse, character, and integrity.
He emphasised that this shift had led the party into a morass that urgently required redemption.
Mr Agyarko also raised questions about how the party had reached this point, with many wondering how these ‘new elements,’ once seen as either entertainment or minor irritants, had emerged in politics without understanding or appreciating the value of a more measured and contemplative approach.
