Public advised to cooperate with police officers tasked to arrest or search with warrants

Chief Inspector Morgan with the Tema Community 2 District Police Command has urged the general public to respect any police officer that comes to arrest or conduct a search on their premises.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s NKOSUONSEM with Nana Yaw Abrompah on the Topic “WARRANT”, Chief Inspector Morgan explained that warrant is a legal document or writ issued by a competent magistrate authorizing an officer to make an arrest, a seizure, or a search or to do other acts incident to the administration of justice.

He also explained some types of warrants which include an arrest warrant, issued by a judge to detain someone, a search warrant, a writ issued by a judge allowing law enforcement to look inside a property, and an Execution warrant, a writ issued by a judge authorizing the death of someone.

Chief Inspector Morgan advised his fellow Police officers to take caution when a search warrant is issued to search someone’s premises or property.

“If the search is on a vehicle, ask the driver to come down and remove the items by themselves so as it must be in houses and offices to avoid benefit of the doubt”. He stated
