The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is accusing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of doing nothing to warrant the vacant Assin North Constituency seat.
The two main political parties are in a serious campaign to win the hearts of the constituents to give them a representation in parliament.
A by-election is imminent following an order by the Supreme Court for Parliament to expunge the name of James Gyakye Quayson, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, as a sitting MP.
Speaking to the NDC Deputy communication officer for Assin North constituency Mr. Martin Apaark on Plan B FM’s morning show NKOSUONSEM with Nana Yaw Abrompah, Mr. Apaark stated that the National Democratic Congress NDC is well prepared to face the New Patriotic Party NPP in the upcoming by-election because their developmental projects which include schools providing potable drinking water and the extension of rural electrification projects will speak for them when the election is held
“The nation wreckers New Patriotic Party NPP connived with some farmers in the Assin North constituency to take the then NDC government to court for cutting down their cocoa to extend electricity to some areas within the constituency”. He said
Mr. Kwaku Noah an NPP communication officer for Assin North debunked the allegation from the NDC and said it is the NPP government that gave the people in Assin North a District Assembly so that development will be closer to them.
“At first Assembly members travel from Assin North to Assin Fosu for Assembly meetings which were very stressful, NPP government provided a district hospital in the area, and as we are speak, the road construction is ongoing in some parts of the constituency so NPP will win this by-election hands down, he added.
