Former District Chief Executive(DCE) for Amansie Central, Mr. Kwame Asamoah Boateng has been arrested by Jacobu for alleged Galamsey-related offenses.

Mr Kwame Asamoah Boateng was arrested together with his accomplice said to be some fake military men and handguards for allegedly harassing and extorting money from illegal miners in the Amansie Central District in the Ashanti Region.

According to police sources, the arrest was made after a small-scale miner lodged an official complaint against the Former DCE at the Jacobu District Police Command.

The miner alleged that the Former DCE together with some fake military personnel and armed land guards have been harassing and extorting money from him at his mining site.

Apart from extorting money, the former DCE and his men also removed the control boards of excavators and took away other essential equipment belonging to him.

Further investigations by the police led to the arrest of the Former DCE and his alleged fake military officers.

Mr Kwame Asamoah Boateng together with his accomplices have since been detained in police custody after their arrest at the Jacobu Police station.
