In Bono East, between Atebubu and Amantin, a bus driver travelling to Salaga was killed.

The robbers stopped Sheriff Jamal, who was in his early 30s, and shot him in the head. He reportedly died on the spot.

At around 11pm on Friday, Sheriff left Kumasi with passengers who were hoping to reach Yeji before dawn to travel to Salaga.

Three other vehicles travelling in the same direction as the commercial vehicle were also robbed.

Sheriff drove for a commercial company in his spare time and reportedly also worked for the National Ambulance Service.

He was buried in Salaga on Friday 10 March 2023 at around 4.30pm, in accordance with Islamic custom.
