Vaccine Shortage: We are expecting delivery of vaccines in the coming weeks – Health Minister

Vaccine shortages: Health Minister to appear before Parliament on Tuesday

The Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu has disclosed that the government is expecting supplies of childhood vaccines into the country in the next few weeks.

Several parts of the country have been hit with a shortage of vaccines in the last few months despite claims by the National Health Insurance Authority that over GH¢70 million has been released for the procurement of the vaccines.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday March 7, 2023, over steps being taken to address the shortage of childhood vaccines in the country, the Minister said government is expecting the arrival of vaccines into the country  in the coming weeks.

“The Ministry of health has been making efforts to ensure we secure adequate stock of vaccines despite this global challenge. We have made all necessary efforts to ensure that we secure adequate stocks within the next few weeks” he explained.

The Health Minister had been scheduled by the Business Committee of Parliament to address the House on the shortage of Vaccines.
