You’II be remembered as the Prez under whom pensioners cried because your reckless borrowing, mismanagement caused DDEP Prez told

President Akufo-Addo to meet MMDCEs, House of Chiefs today over galamsey

Member of Parliament for Builsa South has slammed President Akufo-Addo blaming him for the picketing of some senior citizens at the Finance Ministry.

Some individual pension bondholders have since Monday, February 6, 2023 picket at the Finance Ministry demanding their exemption from the domestic debt exchange programme.

These individuals argued that their exemption would not affect the implementation of the exchange programme.

Individual bondholders under the age of 59 will be offered instruments with a maximum maturity of 5 years, rather than 15 years, and a 10% coupon rate under the new terms.

All retirees (including those who will retire in 2023) will also be offered instruments with a maximum maturity of 5 years, rather than 15 years, and a 15% coupon rate.

However, Dr. Apaak has thrown salvos at the President blaming him for what he described as gross incompetence leading to this economic mess.

He noted that the president’s reckless borrowing, his failure to downsize the government and gross mismanagement of the economy had led to the crisis.

The MP added that the President would be remembered as the president whose recklessness led to a situation where senior citizens picket at the Ministry.

“NADAA will be remembered as the Prez under whom senior citizens (his age) picketed (some crying), because his gross mismanagement of the economy, supervision of corruption, reckless borrowing, and refusal to reduce the size of govt led to a DDEP they were asked to agree to, Sad!”
