Tomato truck catches fire on Tema motorway, owner loses over GHS3000

A tomato truck with the number plate GX 216-13 caught fire on the Tema Motorway today, January 30 at 11 am on its way to Accra Central from Togo.

Fortunately, they were no casualties, but the owner of the goods lost over GHS3000 to the fire. DJ Nyaami and SVTV AFRICA reported that the truck suddenly caught fire, and after a few minutes of waiting time, the fire service arrived and took care of the situation.

According to the owner of the goods, “the first car we travelled from Togo with had a fault, so we had to transfer the goods into this car. Suddenly, we saw smoke coming out of the car and parked.

We opened up the engine, but the fire had already started. The tomatoes are burnt totally. A basket costs GHS1300, and it’s almost 18 baskets.”

The owners lost about GHS23,400 worth of goods , extra cash of GHS3000.
