As NABCo beneficiaries have raised concerns over the payment of their outstanding allowances, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has stated that the programme will come to an end on September 1, 2022.
The finance minister made this known while presenting the 2022 mid-year budget review in parliament on July 25, 2022.
In response to Finance Minister’s update on NABCo Trainees, the president of NABTAG Dennis Opoku Katakyie speaking on Plan B Fm’s ebaanosen stated that trainees over the years haven’t been treated right.
He said that the government must pay their allowances before September else they will speak the only language the NPP government understands which is demonstrating.
He said they do not understand why the government intends to end their program, when their 9 months allowances have not been settled.
He also said that as of now, NABCO trainees are struggling to survive due to the failure of government to pay their allowances.
He revealed that trainees under the scheme are experiencing the brunt of the current economic hardship in the country; with many of the beneficiaries finding it difficult to make ends meet.
He added that even before the mid year budget reading they had Planned a press conference in Kumasi cultural center which is set to come on this Friday July 9 and also present a petition letter to the Ashanti king .
