Sand Winning In Asamankese; Government Must Act Quickly

Sand Winning In Asamankese; Government Must Act Quickly
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a country with a population of 40 million people, has exposed so many countries, including Ghana, which is naturally endowed.

It is pertinent to note that our inability to feed ourselves and have to rely heavily on import is due partly to human activities.

Our import bill on some selected commodities over the years, keep going up, despite several government interventions over the years, especially government’s flagship programme, planting for food and jobs.

After about five years of its implementation, one would have thought they would not only be abundance of food, but lower prices as well..

The wanton destruction of farms in Asamankese, as a result of activities of sand winning, should not have escaped the eyes of the District Chief Executive (DCE), as well as the district police Commander.

The situation is so pervasive, it is no secret in the town. Cocoa farms, maize farms, cassava farms are all being destroyed and no effort is made to cover the holes.

President Akufo Addo, has shown that he is a weak leader, who is not leading, but being lead, because of his inability to fire his wayward appointees.

He has not only disappointed Ghanaians for failing to fulfill his campaign promises, including fighting corruption, but members of the New patriotic party, as well, who wants to break the proverbial eight..

Should his party lose the 2024 election, he should know that he will be blamed for poor leadership.

He might not be lucky like President John Agyekum Kufuor, who will go down in history as the most successful leader of the UP tradition.

This newspaper is of the considered opinion that, he has two years to salvage the situation, thus far, they is no legacy attached to his name worthy of mentioned.

The free Senior High School that he so much cherishes is being asked to be reviewed, and that will leave him with nothing to his name.

Secondly, it is a constitutional requirement, so there is nothing novelty about it.

He is running against time, his DCE at Asamankese, must be fired for sleeping on the Job.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), who is toying the line of his predecessor John Kudalor must also sit up. He needs to recall his officer at Asamankese, he is doing a poor job over there.
