Aggrieved Mpohor Youth Block Deplorable Road Amidst Akufo-Addo’s Visit

Aggrieved Mpohor Youth Block Deplorable Road Amidst Akufo-Addo’s Visit
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The youth of Mpohor, in the Mpohor District of the Western Region, have blocked the deplorable roads in the community amidst the president’s visit.

According to the youth, they are angry because engineers and planners are taking waste mining rocks from the concession of Golden Star (Chifeng) at Mpohor freely and have also allowed Amandi to take without paying any quota to the community.

Adding that several attempts to get the government and other stakeholders to make the road motorable have fallen on deaf ears.

However, the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo will cut sod to mark the commencement of the Manso to Huni Valley section of the Western Rail Line, on Tuesday, July 5.

The Manso to Huni Valley line is approximately 78 kilometres.

The Deustche Bank Credit Facility funds the project which is to be executed by Amandi Investment Limited.

As part of the development of the entire Western Railway Line, the Manso-Huni Valley line would be on a standard gauge.

In 1903, the Western line which starts from Sekondi-Takoradi to Kumasi is the major route for the transportation of bulk commodities and other bulk commodities such as cocoa, manganese, bauxite, flour, cement and petroleum products.

After the sod-cutting ceremony of the railway project, the President will also inspect the railway location workshops at Ketan, in the Essikado-Ketan constituency
