IMF Funds Is Not The One-Stop To All The Economic Problems Of Ghana – Economist

Majority Against The E-levy Are From NPP Strongholds – Dramani Dzramado
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Mr Alex Emmanuel a political Analyst and an Economist has stated that the government’s decision to seek financial support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) may not augur well for all sectors in Ghana.

Speaking to Ohene Addo on Planb Fm’s Ebaanosen Mr Alex indicated that the previous IMF interventions have not been able to sustainably address the country’s economic challenges, as such a move will only worsen the country’s growth.

“IMF programmes do not offer any lasting, durable solutions to the country’s problems. They will scratch on the edges of the problem. The fundamental problem of the country will remain after three/four years of implementation.

“IMF programme as we have always known them will impose hardships on Ghanaians in the end” he said.

He went ahead to say that the state of Ghana’s economy right now needs the IMF intervention but what we fear is the conditions and how it affects us as citizens.

In Conclusion he stated that the funds is not the one-stop to all the economic problems of the country, it’s temporary solution and choosing good leaders is the permanent solution but until then we suffer the fruits of our thumbs.
