The Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Obiri Boahen has strongly opposed the sole-sourcing of the National Cathedral project to David Adjaye. According to him, the projects being awarded to Adjaye don’t fall under the category of projects that needs to be sole-sourced. The procurement laws are very clear on that.
He is not against the construction of the cathedral but he doesn’t see the urgency of it that it had to be sole-sourced. He admitted that the government was wrong. They have flouted the procurement laws in this country. Obiri Boahen was speaking on Okay FM.
I am lost for words. I don’t know what to say again about this cathedral project. Government must put the construction on hold. There is so much secrecy about the project. They should be truthful to Ghanaians if they want to be trusted. They should listen to the voice of Ghanaians for once.
