Government has given approval for Ministers and Heads of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) to contribute 30 per cent of their salaries from April to December 2022 to the Consolidated Fund as part of measures to tackles the economic hardship.
The decision is expected to save the public purse GHc3.5 billion as an exemplary leadership to cushion the economy in the midst of global economic difficulties.
The office of the Chief of Staff (CoS) has directed the Controller and Accountant General, to deduct, at source, 30 per cent from the salaries of ministers of state, including deputy ministers, district chief executives of MMDAs, chief executives of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and their deputies into the Consolidated Fund.
The heads of MDAs, MMDAs and SOEs are also directed to implement measures to ensure that expenditure on their meetings and conferences is reduced by 50 per cent.
