The government says all its flagship programs including the ambitious Free Senior High School (SHS) policy will continue to run regardless of the challenges confronting the country’s economy.
This is contrary to earlier suggestions by the Minister responsible for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah that all 16 flagship programs of the government including the Free SHS were up for possible review after a recent cabinet meeting to proffer solutions to the economic hardships.
But speaking at a press briefing today, Thursday, March 24, Finance does not intend to suspend any of its policies.
“Let me say that President Akufo-Addo has no absolute intention to roll back any major policy like the Free SHS. He sees education as the best and enabling force for sustainable economic growth, transformation, and social mobility, and we will do more to improve on it for it to serve more and better our children.”
National Chairman for Concern Parent Of Free SHS Mr Ben Oteng Marfo speaking to Plan B Fm said that Free SHS is one of the policy that has helped most Ghanaians and its a very good initiative.
In An interview with Bohyeba on Ebanoosen Mr Ben disclosed how some members of their Association always talk about how impossible it would have been for them to cater for their wards secondary Education if not for The Greatest Of All Time initiative Free SHS.
He said that that the policy is sure facing some challenges but all this challenges does not exceed the positives and the challenges is caused by some individuals like the matrons, teachers etc.
He added that because most of the stake holders are not in support of it being free so they are working hard to fail it .
He concluded in other for this initiative to be entirely successful all stakeholders must help the Government because it will help us all.
