Government engaged various groups and associations who threatened to embark on a demonstration over the recent increments in fuel prices. Key among these groups are the Concerned Drivers Association and the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers of Ghana (COPEC).

Transport fares were increased by 15% instead of 30% in February after several calls by transport operators.

Mr sampson Addae Head of Research and Pricing COPEC speaking to Plan B Fm on Ebanoosen hosted by Bohyeba Afriyie disclosed the Agenda of the meeting they had with the Energy minister.

He said that the meeting was purposely to calm them down and also to give them the opportunity to state measures that can be put in place to solve the price of fuel crisis.

He stated that The government hinted to them some plans they are working on to introduce measures to reduce the price of fuel in the country.

He added that the minister made them understand that all concerns they raised are ones very legitimate, and if not all they promise to work with most. He concluded that they are given them the benefit of doubt to take better decisions on behalf of them and so have suspended the demonstration they threatened.
