The Akufo-Addo government has arrested yet another journalist in what appears to be another attempt at suppressing press freedom.
Sacut Amenga-Etego was said to have been picked up by operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) at the premises of a court where he had gone to follow up on a case of extortion that he had been investigating.
The case is said to be about some operatives of National Security extorting money from some Indian investors.
According to information he was in court on Thursday in Accra when he was suddenly picked up by the NIB operatives.
The operatives are said to have accused him of taking photographs of them after the case was adjourned on Thursday.
It is to be noted that Sacut Amenga-Etego is the same freelance journalist who petitioned CHRAJ to probe the Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company, Paul Adom Otchere, over the spending of Ghc84, 000 on Christmas trees for decoration at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) during the 2021 Christmas.
It is suspected that the rough-up is connected to his pursuit of the Paul Adom Otchere Christmas tree scandal.
