Bitcoin Trader, 23, Takes Own Life After Break-up And Losing All His Money

Bitcoin Trader, 23, Takes Own Life After Break-up And Losing All His Money

A heartbroken man decided to end his life after breaking up with his girlfriend and losing all of his money to Bitcoin.

Stefano Reale, 23, had broken up with his girlfriend and lost his investment shortly before he took his own life.

His body was found by a passerby in a wooded area of Wanstead Flats in east London last September.

Mr Reale had sent an emotional voice note asking a friend to “donate my organs” before his death.

Emergency services were called and CPR was administered for 20 minutes but he was pronounced dead.

His inquest was held at Waltham Forest Coroner’s Court on Wednesday, reports My London.

The coroner heard Mr Reale had never sought professional help or medical advice for suicidal thoughts and his friends and family were unaware of his difficulties.

Shortly before his death he sent a number of WhatsApp voice notes asking for forgiveness.

A statement read out on behalf of his friend Kavilesh Ramparsad, who attended the inquest in person, said: “It seems difficult to me that he did this, even though I have lived with him and known him for a long time, he’s never given me the feeling of having these kinds of temptations. Many know him, and they know him as a very cheerful, sunny and very generous person.”

The coroner heard that shortly before taking his own life, Mr Reale had sent his ex-girlfriend a photo of a tree, with the words ‘remember this place’. Being unaware of his intentions, she had responded to say it looked “nice and peaceful”, to which he replied by sending her a photograph of his bag with a teddy bear inside.

He followed this by saying, “I’ve lost everything, good luck,” to which she thought he was referencing their recent split. A number of voice notes were also retrieved from his phone which he had sent to his friends, one of which referenced his money problems and involvement with Bitcoin.

In one emotional voice note, read aloud to the court, Mr Reale, originally from Palermo in Italy, said: “I just wanted to say, when I die, donate my organs. I want to help someone else.”

The inquest was told Mr Reale’s family in Italy are distraught over his death and are yet to receive many of his belongings.
