The paramount Chief of Sunyani, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkawiri II and four other of his subjects are facing civil prosecution over instoolment of one Madam Abena Brayie Donkor as queenmother of Nyamaa stool land.
Petitioners; Madam Yaa Animah, head of immediate Nana Nyamaa and Boahen Korkor Royal Family and Mr. Kwasi Mensah, head of immediate Boahen Korkor Royal Family “Nyamaa House”, Sunyani explained Respondent, Madam Abena Brayie Donkor is not a member of the immediate Nana Nyamaa, Gyama Badu and Akosua Duaa immediate maternal family for her to occupy the Sunyani female stool.
“It is against custom; tradition, convection ,etc to ‘sell’ the Sunyani female stool to a ‘bidder’ for monetary consideration”, the petitioners through their lawyer from Enso Nyame Ye Chambers stated in their claims, according to Arknewsroom.com’s sources
The petitioners in a writ filed at a High Court in Sunyani are therefore praying an order to declare the nomination, selection, enstoolment of Madam Abena Brayie Donkor as queenmother of the Nyamaa stool as null and void.
They insist Madam Abena Brayie Donkor is not a Royal and also not hail from the Boahen Korkor and Nana Nyamaa Family.
The petitioners, is therefore claiming, Madam Abena Brayie Donkor has no legitimate right to be Queenmother of Nyamaa stool land since her descendants are slaves.
“Being a descendants of a slave, cannot hold, occupy etc any position within the Boahen Korkor, Nyamaa Gyama, Badu, Abena Gyamaa and Abena Nimo immediate maternal family”, the petitioners claimed taking swipe at Bosoma Asor Nkawiri II.
