High Court Issues Bench Warrant For Arrest Of DCE. Awuku

A Kumasi High Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the Municipal Chief Executive Officer for Atwima Nwabiagya South District Hon Michael Awuku.

The warrant was issued commanding the supritendent of police and police officers within the jurisdiction of the court to arrest and produce before court the government official over a charge of contempt of court contrary to order 50 of CI 47.

The foregoing was triggered by a play following Hon Awuku’s failure to pay a fine of Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis (¢30,000.00).

BACKGROUND

He was fine for unlawfully demolishing stores at Abuakwa.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Obiri Francis also charged the Municipal Assembly to pay Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (¢10,000 .00) to the court whiles the MCE pays ¢30,000.00.
