Comfort Agyin, a midwife, has advised women to adopt self-breasts examination to avoid contracting breast cancer.

She said about 80 percent of women have breasts cancer without being aware and stressed the need for self-examination.

She gave the advice on Plan B FM ‘Apomuden Fie’ with Nana Konadu Okontie to mark the month of October as breast cancer month to raise awareness on breast cancer and the need for women to undertake regular examination of their breast and seek early treatment for any abnormality in their breasts.

She said regular self-examination of the breast and early reporting of any changes would lead to early diagnosing and treatment.

“Love your breast, get screened and save your life, put away any fear whatsoever, be bold and get screened for effective treatment for survival”.

“Breast cancer is curable so let’s all push for our women to get treated at the early stages for survival,” she stressed.

She aslo urged lactating mothers to ensure that they breastfed their children properly to reduce the risk of getting breast cancer.

She added that women should avoid taking in too much alcohol and must do away with tobacco substances since these could bring about breast cancer.

She also admonished women to go for regular check-ups on their breast and if diagnosed of cancer, they should see breast specialists for treatment.
