President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Deputy Chief Fire Officer (DCFO) Julius Kuunuor Aalebkure as the new Acting Chief Fire Officer (CFO) of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
DCFO Aalebkure who was the Director of Administration and Finance of the Service takes over from Mr Edwin Ekow Blankson who is currently indisposed.
His appointment takes effect from October 7, 2021.
This was contained in a letter signed by Nana Bediatuo Asante, Secretary to the President sighted by the Ghanaian Times.
His appointment was in pursuant of Section 18(1) of the GNFS Act, 1997 (Act 537).
Mr Aalebkure attended the University of Cape Coast from 1984 to1988,Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration from 2006 to 2008,the Institution of Fire Engineers (Graduate in Fire Engineers)-UK, Navrongo Secondary School from 1980 to 1982, Kanton Senior School(O level) 1972-1977.
He was the Director of Operations, GNFS Headquarters from February 2017 to August 2017.
The new Acting CFO was the Director of Fire Safety at the Headquarters from July 2016 to November 2016, Director of Human Resources and Development from October 2015 to December 2016.
Mr Aalebkure wasenlisted into the Fire Service on November 1, 1992was also the regional Commander for the Service at Tema.
Some courses he had attended are internal management crises by the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College in 2005, Management of assistance and Salvage at sea in China in the year 2004.
His achievements includes establishing models for Fire Safety Education in basic schools and Senior High Schools, conceived the concept of fire farms by fire volunteers.
Helped write models for the Fire and Disaster Management Course at the University of Energy and Natural Resources UENR,instituted the first ever celebration of the International Firefighters Day and open day where school where our doors were opened to the public.
He also proposed for the building of a second training school at the regional headquarters and celebration of the most fire safety compliant awards.
