The Government is due to meet with the leadership of the University Teachers Association of Ghana, (UTAG), today Wednesday, October 6, 2021.
This was made known by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng.
Speaking on PLAN B FM’s Morning Show dubbed Nkosuo Nsem, the public relations officer indicated that its outfit is optimistic of a fruitful meeting today.
“Government have its own position just us UTAG is also having, so hopefully by the close of the day, there will be a positive news on the issue between UTAG and Government”, he said.
According to the public relations officer, the meeting with UTAG is about negotiations and not arbitration.
“We are going into negotiation and not arbitration, so defiantly each party will agree on terms that will benefit the association and the country as well”, he explained.
Meanwhile the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), has asked its members to resume their suspended strike on Friday, October 8, 2021, over poor conditions of service.
UTAG insists that the decision has become necessary because negotiations with the government are in stalemate a month after it suspended the earlier strike.
