We’ve Contributed Significantly To The Development Of Ghana – NPP Communicator

A member of the of the National Communication Team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwasi Kwarteng has stated that his party has contributed immensely to the development of the country  since it formation in 1992.

Speaking on Plan B FM ‘Ebaanosen’ with Bohyeba Afriyie on Thursday August 5, 2021 after the party’s 29th-anniversary celebration, he said, despite the challenges the country is facing, the NPP’s contribution to Ghana’s development is unmatched.

“I am not saying the NDC has done nothing for this country, but governance is a continuous process and if you look at the two main political parties (NPP & NDC) within the same frame of 8 years, we’ve contributed a lot to the country. For instance, if you look at the educational sector, before we came to power, according to the GES data we had a deficit of over 400,000 students who could not get access to our second cycle institutions all because of financial problems; when we came, we took a bold decision and currently enrollment has increased from 800,000 to 1.2 million which indicates a significant increase of about 50%,” he indicated.

He went on to explain that the government’s industrialization agenda with the introduction of one district, one factory initiative is also creating jobs for the youth. He said the initiative has reduced the unemployment rate in the country.

“We know we’ve not completed all the factories we promised, but as at now we have about 46 factories in operation; of course there are existing ones we’ve supported and they are also doing well. If you look at the employment situation now, we are not saying we have solved the employment situation in the country, we all saw the fix the country protest yesterday, people are calling for jobs, which is a legitimate concern, and it is a continuous process. However, if you look at our contribution to the employment sector, when we came we had nurses who had been unemployed for 3 years, doctors had been home for 2 years, but now we have recruited most of them. We have the agenda 111 district hospitals which is about to be rolled out, so we’ve done marvelously well” he added.
