The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) will conduct a full-scale emergency simulation exercise at the Accra International Airport on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

The exercise, dubbed “Falcon Eye 2026,” is being organised in line with the Ghana Civil Aviation Directives (GCAD) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices, which require Ghana to conduct a full-scale emergency exercise at least once every two years.

According to GACL, the exercise is aimed at testing the adequacy of the Accra International Airport’s Contingency and Aerodrome Emergency Plans, as well as evaluating Ghana’s preparedness to respond effectively to emergencies at the airport.

The simulation will take the form of an act of unlawful interference against airport operations and facilities, followed by a coordinated response from relevant emergency and security agencies, including members of the Emergency Operation Center.

An Exercise Planning Team comprising representatives from the Ghana Airports Company Limited, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Ghana Army and Ghana Police Service has been tasked with planning and conducting the exercise.

GACL has assured the travelling public and other stakeholders that there will be minimal interruptions to airport operations during the exercise.

Management of Ghana Airports Company Limited has therefore appealed to the general public and all stakeholders to cooperate with the relevant agencies to ensure the successful execution of the simulation.
