Police Outrider Dies As Speaker’s Convey Is Involved In An Accident

Chief Inspector Abednego Kaakyire, a member of an advanced security team for the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban S. K. Bagbin, today, Friday, August 6, 2021, lost his life after the team he was travelling with, was involved in an accident on its way to Wa in the Upper East Region.

According to a press release dated August 6, 2021 and signed by Kate Addo, Director, Public Affairs of Parliament, a Nissan Sentra with vehicle registration number GT 2173-21, allegedly run into the convey at Konongo in the Ashanti region killing the unnamed rider in the process.

Information reaching Plan-B FM say that the team was headed to Wa to await the arrival of the Speaker and upon reaching Konongo, a vehicle allegedly run into the convoy killing the rider instantly.

The release mentioned that the Speaker was not affected as he was in his office, Parliament, working at the time of the accident.

Chief Inspector Kaakyire reportedly died on the spot after his motorbike collided head-on with the Nissan Sentra.

Persons who claim to be eyewitnesses told the media that the driver of the Nissan Sentra hit the rider during an attempt to overtake an articulated truck ahead of him on the Kumasi-Nkawkaw section of the Kumasi-Accra road.
