21-Year-old Woman Arrested For Stabbing Father To Death

A 21-year-old resident of Tema Community 2, Daniella Nyarkoh is currently in police custody for allegedly stabbing her 70-year-old father to death in their family home yesterday morning.

According to a source in the area, one Prince Nyarkoh who is believed to be a son of the deceased, Ishmael Nana Nyarkoh reported at the Tema Community 2 police station that the suspect has stabbed the deceased killing him in the process.

The source continued that Daniella was immediately arrested by some persons who were around and subsequently handed over to the police.

Narrating the unfortunate incident, the source whose identity is withheld for ethical reason, noted that the complainant after reporting to the police later led a team of police officers from the Crime Scene Management team from Tema Region to the scene where the they found the lifeless body of the deceased lying in a prone position in a pool of blood in a single room of ground floor under a storey building at BBC, Community 2.

According to the source, police inspection of the body revealed multiple fresh wounds on the head and the throat. The source continued that police also detected that the deceased who is a diabetic patient had his left leg amputated on medical grounds.

“I can tell you that two kitchen knives were retrieved at the crime scene by the police team which went to the scene”, the source remarked.

The suspect is mentioned as an SHS graduate, currently unemployed and is said to be living with her parents and siblings in a single room at BBC, Community 2. Daniella, the source added, had behaved strangely in the house over the past one week.

Prior to allegedly stabbing her father to death, Daniella is said to have been sent to a prayer camp on May 29, 2021 at Tema New-Town for religious intervention. Neighbours to her family had allegedly advised her family to send her to a psychiatric hospital for medical treatment; something her family is said to have considered but did not act.

She is believed to have started behaving abnormal after returning from the prayer camp and is further said to have rushed to a store-room where she picked two knives stabbed her father  to death while he lay bed without any apparent reason.

The body of the deceased has been conveyed to Tema General Hospital mortuary for preservation and awaiting autopsy.
