Chaos at Nungua: 8 Stabbed As Nungua Zongo Boys Clashed With Nungua Maamli Boys

The Nungua Police Command has arrested about six people during a clashed (Free for all fight) between Nungua Maamli Youth and Nungua Zongo Youth.

According to report, there was a little misunderstanding between two teams during a football match at Nungua Town Park which was settled. They were even told not to play any of their football matches until the matter was completely resolved.

Speaking to the media, the assembly member for Lawerh Electoral Area, Lawrence Bortey Borquaye said, he was called by a unit Committee Member that more than 8 people have stabbed with knife or broken bottle in a renewed clashed during a football match.

He added that, the fight was initially started by two member from each of the teams involved and continued that a brother of the two who were fighting later joined and tried helping his brother beat his opponent.

According to him, the Zongo guy called on his Zongo friends and subsequently went to the Town Park, where the match was earlier played and started attacking people indiscriminately.

He further said he later joined the area’s MCE, Joshua Bortey to invite the local police to restore peace in the area. He conclude that the police later arrested some of the persons involved in the fight.
