Ghana Premier League: Kotoko Go Top As Karela, Olympics Both Drop Points

Kumasi Asante Kotoko recorded a 2-0 win over Berekum Chelsea at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday in Match week Week 19 to climb to the summit of the Ghana Premier League log.

This is Mariano Barreto’s second win since taking over as Head Coach of the club.

Goals from Andy Kumi and Godfred Asiamah ensured that the Porcupine Warriors grabbed all three points from the game.

Kumi gave the home side the lead in the 26th minute before Asiamah found the back of the net late in the 90th minute to seal the victory for Kotoko.

The result leaves Kotoko at the top of the league log just a point above Accra Great Olympics while Berekum Chelsea sit in 12th place.

Legon Cities secured a 2-0 win over local rivals Accra Great Olympics in the Accra derby on Sunday in Match week 19 of the Ghana Premier League.

Goals from Nicholas Mensah (58mins) and Jonah Attuquaye (70mins) ensured the Royals grabbed all three points.

The Dade Boys were looking to pick up from where they left off in Match Week 18 after defeating Medeama but were unable to overcome the Royals.

Legon Cities remain a place above the relegation zone in 15th place while Great Olympics drop to second place on the log.

Inter Alliesput a dent in Karela United’s title hopes after recording a comfortable 2-0 win at the Dawu Park on Sunday.

Second half goals from Nafiu Suleman and Samuel Armah gave the hosts all three points and earn them their first in four matches.

Suleman put the hosts ahead with 20 minutes to go before Samuel Armah doubled the lead for Inter Allies from a penalty in the 84th minute to put the game to bed.

Karela drop to third place on the league log, 2 points behind leaders Asante Kotoko following the result while Inter Allies remain bottom of the table with 16 points.

Amed Toure scored a brace as Medeama SCrecorded a 2-0 win over Dreams FC at the Akoon Park on Sunday in Match Week 19 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Burkinaba Faso international scored a goal in each half to propel the Mauve and Yellows to a deserved win at the Akoon Park.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the first half after Mohammed Sulemana was sent off for a foul on Zakaria Mumuni.

Medeama move into the top four on the league table level on points with Accra Hearts of Oak who are in fifth place. (30 points)

At the Agyemang Badu Park, Aduana Starsrecovered from their 2-0 defeat to Accra Hearts of Oak in Match week 18 to hand King Faisal a 3-1 defeat on Sunday.
