GPL: Legon Cities Beat WAFA To Record First Win Of The Season

Legon Cities secured their first win of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season with a hard fought 1-0 win over West African Football Academy (WAFA) at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night.

Joseph Adjei’s second half  penalty was enough to secure the three points for  through for the Royals.

The first-half ended in a stalemate as both sides failed to convert their changes.

WAFA had the opportunity to take the lead in the early stages of the game from a free-kick but Legon Cities goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda was equal to the task and  managed to keep the ball out.

Legon Cities midfielder Matthew Anim Cudjoe was brought down in the box in the early minutes of the second-half and was awarded a penalty.

Joseph Adjei made no mistake from the spot and neatly converted to hand the home-side the advantage and eventually all 3-points as WAFA failed to find the equalizing goal.
