GES addresses concerns over outstanding salary arrears

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has acknowledged concerns raised by the Coalition of Unpaid Teachers over outstanding salary arrears and related issues affecting some teachers recruited in 2024.

In a statement dated September 8, 2026, the GES said records available to management indicate that the salaries and arrears due to teachers within the affected group have been processed.

However, the Service acknowledged that some individual cases may require further verification and resolution.

To address the concerns, the GES has established a dedicated Help Desk at its headquarters to assist affected teachers.

Teachers with unresolved salary issues have been directed to report to Room 305 at the GES Headquarters with relevant supporting documents to enable management to verify and address their cases.

Teachers who are unable to visit the headquarters can contact the Help Desk on 0201360786 or 0201360789 for assistance and guidance on submitting their details remotely.

The GES said it remains committed to addressing all legitimate concerns promptly and safeguarding the welfare of teachers.

The development comes after newly recruited teachers raised concerns over unpaid salary arrears. Earlier in April, the GES announced that government had approved the payment of arrears covering August 2024 to November 2025, with payments scheduled to be made in instalments.
