Kato, a town in the Berekum East Municipality of the Bono Region was thrown into a state of disbelief, when a 45-year-old man, Kwasi Yeboah allegedly shot himself and his two children.

Kwame Agyei, aged 14, sustained gunshot wounds, and he is responding to treatment at the Berekum Holy Family Hospital.

However the bodies of Olivia Fakyewaa, nine years old and her father (Yeboah) were retrieved by the police from their room at Kato and deposited at the same hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

During a visit, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) gathered from some residents that the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday July 9, 2025.

They said the couple had been divorced and the children were living with their mother, who was only known by the name Madam Sarah.

Yeboah (deceased), had earlier gone to pick up the children from their mother and took them to his house after which he committed the act.

A reliable police source confirmed the incident to the GNA and said further investigations were ongoing.

The tragic incident has since spread like wildfire in the Berekum Municipality, as the police investigate to unravel the mystery surrounding the heinous act.
