According to the Ghana Police Service, officers in the Ashanti Region’s Manso Dawusaso shot and killed two suspected thieves.
According to the police, the Anti-Robbery Task Force of the Regional Command launched an intelligence-based operation that resulted in the arrest of one of the offenders.
On September 24, a group attempted to rob a gold dealer at his residence in the Amansie South District, according to the Service.
The suspects allegedly “disarmed the private security guard of his weapon and fired rounds into the residence” at 9:00 p.m. that Friday.
However, the police “mounted a 24-hour surveillance on the gang” and “returned fire to defend the innocent lives in and around the property” .
As a result, the two people who were shot were detained and sent to the hospital.
They were later pronounced dead upon arrival..
Four suspects managed to flee, according to a statement signed by the Police Director-General of Public Affairs, ACP Kwesi Ofori.
Another suspect, Abraham Kwasi Tetteh, has been arrested in connection with the incident, according to the police.
The statement further indicated that four others were on the run and are currently being pursued.
According to reports, the Ashanti Regional Police Command retrieved a shotgun, a revolver, and a taxi cab to the police station.
Residents, particularly in the Amansie South District, are being urged to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the four perpetrators.
