2 dead, several others injured as VIP crashes in wrongful overtaking

One Feared Dead, Driver In Critical Condition In Gomoa Dabenyin Accident

with registration number GE 5099-15 have been confirmed dead and several others injured in a wrongful overtaking resulting in a crash.

According to the Konongo Police, the VIP bus from Yeji was heading towards Accra with passengers on board. On reaching a section of the road at the outskirts of Nobewam near the three-lane Nobewam -Kumasi highway, he was overtaking vehicles ahead of him and in the process, a vehicle emerged from the opposite direction and to avoid collision, he drove back to his lane and ran into the rear portion of an empty MAN Diesel Trailer Truck with registration number GN 6933-11 driven by one  Abraham Ayamawith another on board.

Some of the passengers as well as the suspect drivers on board both accident vehicles sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to Asante Akyem Central Municipal, Nobewam SDA and Hopecare Specialist Hospitals respectively for treatment but the unknown driver and one other person on board the VIP bus died shortly on arrival.

The bodies were deposited at Stewards Hospital and Asante Akyem Central Municipal Hospital mortuary for preservation, identification and autopsy.
