A 15-year-old Ghanaian immigrant has died after being shot in the Bronx, New York City, in the United States, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
The teenager, identified as Javits Frimpong, was pronounced dead at a hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound near the intersection of Crotona Place and East 171st Street shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to police.
Sources cited by PIX11 reported that the teenager was shot in the abdomen and was found in and out of consciousness.
Police are searching for three men suspected of involvement in the shooting. The suspects, who were last seen wearing black clothing, reportedly fled towards Fulton Avenue. Two of them were said to have been wearing surgical masks.
Surveillance footage reportedly captured one individual fleeing the scene in clothing matching the description provided by police: a black hoodie, black sweatpants and a mask.
Authorities said Javits managed to run about a block after being shot before collapsing. He was subsequently rushed to hospital, where he died.
Speaking to journalists, the victim’s father, Thomas Frimpong, disclosed that his son had moved from Ghana to the United States approximately a year ago.
He further alleged that the teenager had complained of being bullied by some students at school, adding that two students had previously been suspended for repeatedly bullying his son.
Police investigations into the fatal shooting are ongoing, with efforts underway to identify and arrest the suspects.
