A terrible traffic accident occurred at Amanase, a town on the Suhum-Kumasi Highway, killing at least 11 persons. The collision took place on Sunday and involved a sprinter bus and a fuel truck. This unfortunate incident occurred approximately 5 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

According to eyewitnesses, the sprinter bus was headed from Accra to Kumasi. It was transporting a number of passengers and some refreshments. In contrast, the fuel tanker was traveling from Kumasi to Accra.

According to reports, the fuel truck driver may have fallen asleep while driving. This forced the tanker to deviate off its lane and collide with the oncoming sprinter bus. The crash was so severe that both automobiles sustained significant damage.

Eleven persons were declared killed on the scene, while several others were seriously injured. Some of the injured passengers are now being treated at neighboring hospitals. According to healthcare staff, some of them are in critical condition.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the mortuary. Emergency responders, including police officers, firefighters, and ambulance staff, rushed to the area to assist with rescue operations and traffic management.

This catastrophe has caused anguish in many families and prompted worries about the safety of the Suhum-Kumasi roadway. Some motorists who drove by the accident scene characterized it as one of the worst wrecks they had ever witnessed.

Many Ghanaians are urging the government and road safety authorities to implement greater steps to prevent such fatal incidents. They are also asking drivers to rest before driving and to be more cautious, particularly on congested roadways.

Police say they are currently investigating the cause of the collision and will release more information soon.
