Zeenu, Atadeka Residents Lament Poor Drainage Systems

Residents in Zeenu, Atadeka and its surrounding communities in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality have called on government to provide good roads and drainage systems to prevent flooding in the area especially during this raining season.

According to residents, they have for years, complained to authorities at the municipal assembly and Member of Parliament for the area Hon. Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, about the serious challenges they faced during this rainy season times because of the poor drainage system in the area, which leads to flooding and destruction of properties.

Speaking Plan B FM on Nkosuo Nsem, one of the residents Miss Ayishatu indicated that, the poor drainage in the communities had been caused as a result of bad roads and this needed to be addressed immediately to curb the plight of residents and drivers.

According to her, the assembly has been informed on countless occasions but have failed to address their implorations, and it has been one of the major problems in the area.

She however disclosed that, members of the community have decided to raise some funds for the construction of the drainage systems, since the assembly and government have neglected them with respect to development.

Another resident, Madam Alice also appealed to the government for the urgent provision of sufficient drains to curtail such occurrences as the rainy season had just started.

She said due to the bad nature of roads during the rainy season, drivers charged exorbitant fares citing vehicular damages as justification.

Madam Alice therefore, appealed to the government and appropriate authorities to come to their aid and help solve the situation.
