Former Ghana U-17 Captain Sebastian Barnes has called for support for current Black Stars Coach Otto Addo, stressing the German-trained tactician needs the support of the masses to succeed.
According to the former Hearts Of Oak defender, having a coach who has been trained in Germany and handling the Black Stars is a huge advantage to the country.
In an interview with Dan K. Pobi ‘Okocha’ on Plan B FM’ Weekend Sports Show, Barnes believes Otto Addo Addo has the qualities to lead the Black Stars going into the World Cup.
“I have always maintained that, football made in Germany is the best. The best you can get from football is the Germans. We have to be proud to have a German trained Otto Addo as the head coach of the Black Stars because Germany is one of the best football countries in the world. I know him (Otto Addo) very well and i know he is building a formidable squad for the world cup. It is time for him to know the system and how to blend them together” he said
The former U-17 Star is the Technical Director and European Liaison for Division One League side Young Apostles. Barnes holds a UEFA B coaching certificate.
He has been coaching the U16 side of SC Leverkusen, where he also acts as sports director.
He moved to Germany after captaining the Black Starlets to win the FIFA U17 World Cup in Italy in 1991
Barnes played for Bayer Leverkusen between 1991 to 1997.
