Security analyst Lord Nana Appiah wants the country’s security agencies to pay more attention to the manufacturing and proliferation of small arms.
He said this in reaction to the recent increase in crime including daylight robberies and subsequent killing of civilians in some parts of the country.
“The National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons should be proactive to monitor the activities of gun manufacturers to ensure that guns do not land in wrong hands. They need to pay more attention to the security risk of local small arms. Criminals frequently carry weapons; the most prevalent are locally. They need to make sure that persons who poses guns must be licensed and all transactions regarding arms dealing must be certified,” he stated on Plan B FM ‘Nkosuo Nsem’ with Ohene Addo
He also urged Customs Officers to track the importation of illegal and dangerous firearms into the country.
