The NPP’s tertiary youth wing, TESCON, was barred from voting at the 2022 national delegates’ conference of the NPP held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, July 16.
The close to 300 members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) who travelled far and near were barred from taking part in the Saturday’s exercise.
This compelled the Confederacy on Monday, July 18 to suspend all the party activities in protest of what they described as gross disrespect.
Speaking on Plan B Fm’s Ebaanosen , Justice Appiah, General Secretary for the group intimated that their party do not value their existence which the Saturday’s incident was a proof.
He said the party has used and dumped them by disenfranchising them for their selfish gains.
“I felt that we [TESCON] were being disrespected; it feels as though TESCON is being used as a winning machinery that is then discarded at a later date,” he said.
But the newly elected National Youth Organizer of the Party, Salam Mustapha promised to work with them at all times.
“I want TESCON to know that I will work for them and with them; together we will get it right,” Salam Mustapha assured.
Mr justice in response to this promise said “I want our National Youth Organiser to know that I have written everything that he has promised us down … And I want him to know that we believe in what he represents and that is why we voted him in.”
