The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has cautioned that the country’s current inflationary pressures risked being prolonged by the attitude of traders taking undue advantage of hikes in fuel prices and policy lapses.
Mr. John Foster Kwabena Agyaho, Head, Price Statistics, GSS, reported that the upward changes in prices of both locally produced and imported food commodities being experienced in the country could ease anytime soon.
Speaking on Plan B FM ‘Ebaanosen’ hosted by Bohyeba Afriyie, Doctor Joseph Obeng, President of Ghana Union Traders Association and here is what he had to say about GSS Comment on inflation.
He revealed that pricing of goods can make and unmake a trader unless him or her is not ready to win in the trade circle, there’s no way a trader will inflate price of goods because of their personal gains.
He condemned GSS of very poor work and he thinks this research is out of their own thought and not conducted the right way.
He also said BOG over the years have not done a good job on how they diagnose inflation, they are sticked to the theory method and it only fails them.
He concluded by calling on BOG to do the needful.
