Illegal Miners Are Not The Only Problems Of The Mining Sector – CSSMA
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Western Regional Police Command has launched a major crackdown on illegal mining operations in Avelebo and Akango, located in the Evalue Ajomoro-Gwira District.

During the raid, law enforcement officers seized 10 excavators, which authorities say will serve as evidence in prosecuting those involved in illegal mining activities.

A total of 15 individuals were arrested, including seven foreign nationals and eight Ghanaian miners.

Renowned anti-illegal mining advocate Erastus Asare Donkor shared the update via social media, highlighting the increasing threat posed by illegal miners in the area.

Authorities have expressed concern over the environmental damage caused by illegal mining, particularly the pollution of the Ankobra River. They have assured the public that all necessary legal actions will be taken against the perpetrators.
