A group of armed men attacked Dorima Enterprise, a popular drink depot at the Monome-Bypass Junction in Akatsi, making away with an unspecified amount of cash.
The suspects, numbering more than seven, reportedly fired warning shots during the attack, assaulted the owner, Madam Doris Ahiable, and forced her to surrender the day’s sales.
A worker at the depot, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on condition of anonymity, said the incident occurred on Saturday at about 1840 hours.
“One of the attackers approached me, demanding cash and hit me when I delayed. I then saw my co-workers and Mama Dorima running for cover after realising we were under attack,” the worker said.
Other workers told the GNA they hid in the warehouse to escape the attack, describing the incident as “life-threatening.”
Security personnel, including officers from the Akatsi Police Command and the Akatsi South Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Daniel Dagba, visited the scene to initiate investigations.
Madam Ahiable is currently receiving medical attention at a health facility.
No deaths or gunshot injuries were recorded.
The Akatsi Police have confirmed the incident and commenced investigations, but no arrests have been made.
