Video: 3 Arrested Over Scary Transportation Of Timber Log In Ejisu

Mechanic Arrested For Snatching A Car From Its Owner During A Test Drive

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ejisu municipality, Samuel Oduro Frimpong says three (3) people have been arrested in connection to the dangerous transportation of a huge log through the town with a lift log truck.

In a video now gone viral, the lift log truck was seen carrying the timber log in a horizontal manner over scores of roadside traders and cars. The most alarming of all was when the truck carried the log over a bus filled with school children who were screaming in fear.

Reacting to this, the MCE after seeing the video rushed to the office of the District Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) who had already seen the video and was working towards identifying the trucker.

According to reports, the tire of the timber lorry carrying the logs from Ejura to Ejisu came off, leaving the truck immobile in the middle of the road causing a heavy traffic jam. To ease the traffic on the road by moving the timber lorry of the road, a lift log truck was called. It was expected that the lift log truck will move the logs to the side of the road but the contrary happened.

The lift log truck which is purposely used for loading logs unto timber lorries dangerously transported the log through town to its final destination, a sawmill at Ejisu without incident.

The visibly displeased MCE in an interview with Happy98.9FM’s Don Kwabena Prah on the Epa Hoa Daben political talk show condemned the incident. “I have asked for a report from the District MTTD Commander and we will see to the prosecution of everyone involved in this carelessness. We have now arrested 3 people in connection to the incident. We have the owner of the sawmill, the lift log and timber truckers in custody and will see to their prosecution.”

He noted that the prosecution of these three (3) will serve as a warning to others and ensure the safety of residents of Ejisu.
