Two former students of Achimota School have died in a tragic accident after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on the Achimota Highway.

The deceased are Davida Asante Boateng and Lilian Akorli.

According to a statement released by the Old Achimotan Association (OAA ’24 year group), the two were on their way back to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), on the night of Friday, March 7, after attending the Annual Bonfire Celebration at Achimota School, their alma mater.

“They were knocked down by a vehicle (a black Corolla) while crossing the highway around 11:30 PM. The driver of the vehicle that hit them refused to stop, and our mates were rushed to the hospital around 12:02 AM by good Samaritans.

Sadly, Davida was confirmed dead at the hospital around 4:00 AM on March 8, 2025. Lilian fought bravely for her life, but unfortunately, she also passed away earlier this morning, on March 8, 2025,” the statement disclosed.

The Old Achimotan Association (OAA ’24) extended its deepest condolences to the families of Davida and Lilian, assuring them of continued support and efforts to honor their memory.
