Two Children Found Dead In Open Drain After Going Missing At Gbawe Zero

GNFS retrieves decomposed body from septic tank in Sunyani; boyfriend arrested

Two children have tragically been found dead in an uncovered drainage system at Gbawe Zero Machandi Estate in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The incident occurred on Monday, August 25, 2025. The victims, aged five and seven, reportedly went missing on Sunday and were last seen playing near the drainage.

Residents, visibly distressed, told Adom FM that the drain has long been a “death trap” and blamed authorities for ignoring repeated complaints.

Several appeals had been made to have the drainage covered or properly fixed, but no action was taken.

The community fears the situation could worsen with the onset of heavy rains, as erosion is already damaging the main road in the area.
