Authorities in Togo have, on Tuesday, May 17, opened that country’s side of the border with Ghana.

This comes almost two months after Ghana’s authorities opened the country’s land borders after two years of closure due to Covid-19.

Sector Commander at Aflao Border, Assistant Commissioner of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Frederick Duodu assured of adequate securities preparedness following the reopen of the entry points.

Asked about the preparedness of the GIS to handle migration following the opening of the borders while speaking to TV3, Joseph Armstrong Tuesday May 17, he said “The people cannot go up and down like that.

“The formal protocols that they have to go through, like you know, Covid is still around so during the reopen of Ghana side of the border, the President gave directives as to how travelers should go through the protocols, which is being handled by the port health.

“Immigration also has its own protocols. Passengers will be profiled and all necessary procedures you go through they will go through.”

In his 28th update to the nation on Sunday, March 27, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ordered that the country’s land and sea borders, which were shut in March, 2020 due to the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus, should be reopened.
