Lady Marilyn Abeka-Daniels, an adjunct lecturer at the University of Media, Arts and Communication’s Institute of Journalism (UNIMAC-IJ), has urged individuals to seize the moment. She emphasises that “Time has no Sankɔfa,” highlighting the importance of making the most of the present.
In an interview, Abeka-Daniels stated, “Time has no Sankɔfa, seize the moment, for opportunities lost are gone forever.” She drew comparisons with Dr Kwame Nkrumah, noting that many Ghanaians have not been celebrated due to poor time utilisation.
Abeka-Daniels encourages self-reflection, asking, “How have I utilised my time up to now?” She emphasises that time is an investment that can yield benefits tomorrow. She shared her personal experience of making sacrifices to care for her wards, which has proven beneficial.
The lecturer cautions against excessive social media usage and advocates for eliminating this time-wasting habit. She also highlights overcommitment as a major obstacle to effective time management. Abeka-Daniels advises individuals to be bold, learn to say no when necessary, and delegate tasks to others when possible. “Delegate others to save time and complete your planned tasks within the allocated time,” she counselled.
