Thunderstorm kills over 20 cattle at Tatale

Thunderstorm kills over 20 cattle at Tatale
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A thunderstorm on Monday, May 25, reportedly killed more than 20 cattle belonging to Sarkin Amaru, a Fulani herdsman at Tatale in the Northern Region.

According to Mr. Amaru, he was in his hut during Monday evening’s rainfall when lightning struck, followed by a loud thunderclap.

Shortly after, he noticed one of his cows collapse and rushed to slaughter it, only to realise that several others were also falling.

In all, more than 20 cattle died instantly, leaving him devastated and stranded.

Mr Amaru said the incident has left him with nothing, as the cattle were his main source of livelihood and support for his family.

He is therefore appealing to the public for assistance.

“I’m appealing to the government, district assembly, individuals and organisations to come to my aid. Any amount wil be appreciated,” he appealed.
