Speaking on Plan B FM’s EBAANOSEN show hosted by Ohene Kennah, Mr. Thomas Aryetey, the parliamentary candidate for Ayensuano Constituency, stressed that the law must be applied fairly and equally to every citizen, regardless of status or affiliation.

According to Mr. Aryetey, anyone who breaches the law should be allowed to go through the due legal process, with the government and the appropriate state institutions handling such matters impartially and without political interference.

He also expressed concern over the welfare of some National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) personnel, claiming that they have worked for approximately 14 months without receiving their salaries.

Mr. Aryetey argued that leaving public workers unpaid for such an extended period places them under severe financial pressure, which may compel some to take desperate measures simply to provide for their families. He maintained that if the government later arrests such individuals for wrongdoing, it should also acknowledge the circumstances that may have contributed to their actions.

He further cautioned that the government’s failure to address such challenges could gradually erode public confidence in state institutions.

Touching on the case involving Hon. Wontumi, Mr. Aryetey stated that Article 72 of the Constitution provides a legal avenue through which individuals may petition for clemency or a reduction of their sentence under the President’s prerogative of mercy, subject to the provisions of the Constitution.
